Mardi Gras Madness!!!!!!! Math mini unit on Ten More and Ten Less

Happy Mardi Gras!

Here in Louisiana we are big on Carnival Season! Four days in and I'm so excited for the coming weeks!

We have been hard at work in first grade getting ready for second grade! I haven't had much time for much of anything else other than school work and Carly Summer. Who knew 8th grade was so much work?? Loving every minute of it though!!!!!

Anyways.....
In honor of this fun time, I've created a math mini unit for finding 10 more and 10 less inspired by Mardi Gras.

This unit has 5 days of lesson plans on finding 10 more and 10 less. Each day includes whole group lesson plan, small group lesson plan with ideas for enrichment and remediation, center activities (not day 5), exit tickets, and recording pages. There is also a summative assessment for analyzing student achievement of the unit.
Day 1: Place Value Parade (2 center activities)
Day 2: Mardi Gras Go Round
Day 3: Block Party Missing Numbers
Day 4: Unmasking Numbers/Clue de Lis (2 center activities)
Day 5: Crowning Partners

Extra Center Game: King Cake Order

Find this fun unit {HERE}!!

I hope you can use this unit to add a little Carnival to your classrom while teaching some mental math skills. Let me know what you think in the comments!

Happy Teaching!!
