This year it seems that I have quite the chatty class! They are so lively and full of things to talk about! While I do allow some chatter in my classroom while they are completing work and activities sometimes the noise level gets to a point that it's hard for anyone to concentrate - 24 voices all on at once. I'm using my attention grabbers a lot during the day. So I've upped the ante a bit with some Class Dojo Rewards.

I LOVE Class Dojo! It's amazing and highly effective in class, especially when they hear the dings and the bonks. Right back on track!

I'm using the rewards weekly. For every point at the end of the day, they get 1 Dojo Dollar. I keep track on a tracking form on their desk and with a checklist.

Every Wednesday they can cash in their Dojo Dollars and receive a prize. It's up to them and they can save if they so choose.

Some of the passes they can choose are listed here:

The Point Punch Passes are used for keeping track of their cashed in rewards. I printed out the cards, backed them on cardstock, and then laminated them. When a student wishes to cash in for a reward, I punch the number of dollars they redeemed. They can take the card home and show their parents and they receive a certificate that shows what they choose.

This is and will always be a FREE product in my TpT store. Grab yours now!!

PS - This kit is COMPLETELY editable! Make it your own. Personalize it. Have fun!

Do you Class Dojo? How does it work in your classroom? I would love to hear about it! Thanks so much!

Happy Teaching!

Happy Saturday to all! January has been the fastest month by far! I dont know where all my time went but I am looking forward to the next few weeks. We are having a ball in first grade! Lots of fun stuff and learning going on.

I wanted to share with you a Valentine's activity pack that I use in my classroom. I've created some ELA and math games that will liven up any classroom while reinforcing key skills.

Compound Hearts game

Matching Math Hearts game - helping with the skill of double digit to single digit addition

Word Sort Sounds of –ed

Valentine Rhyming Words game

Valentine Fill in the Blank

Valentine Word Search

Valentine Mystery Picture for 120 chart

Whole group math game idea - now this one is so much fun!! First you have to pull out your trusty old 120 board for the whole group.
Lay it out. Next print out, cut apart, and fold up the problem cards:

I went to the Teacher Best Friend Store (aka Dollar Tree) and grabbed some adorable plastic heart containers.

I stuffed them in the boxes and we played. Children took turns choosing a box and solving the problem. They covered the number on the 120 board with a red lace heart doily, also from the DT!

Voila! We had a heart when we finished! They went back to their desks to complete the mystery picture for extra reinforcement. So much fun! I placed the large activity in a center so they could play  by themselves.

To round out the pack, I included some Game Title Cover for Centers

I print out the covers, cut out, and glue onto brown clasp envelopes. Run through the laminator and then you can store the pieces to the games inside. They hold up quite awhile.

As always, my newest products are free for a limited time :)

Have you ever tried Donor's Choose? It's the best thing to come to teacher's aid since, well, the pencil with a brand new eraser!

Donor's Choose is a website where teachers can write up projects and ask for donations for classroom items. Donors can then choose to help you fund your project.

Earlier this year, I wrote a project asking for some seat sacks to help my firsties organize their supplies The wonderful company Chevron funded my project and a few days later I received the seat sacks! Look how wonderful they are!

Write your own project! Go check it out now!

We also made some story spoons to help us with our skill of retelling. Again, from the wonderful First Grade Wow Blog. She is just amazing over there!!

Happy Teaching!!
