It's July!! Can you believe it? June went by in a flash! It's also the first Wednesday which means it's Winner Wednesday with Jennifer over at A Dab of Glue Will Do!

This week I'm giving away my Main Idea and Card Sort product. It's my number one best seller on TpT and I've recently updated it for the new school year!

This sort is ideal for reinforcing main idea and details in a center, small groups, or RTI.

The entire set is also differentiated: pictures only, words and pictures, words only.
There are 10 groups - Each group includes one main idea and four details.
I had to include Mardi Gras, y'all!!

When I introduce main idea, I pull together real life objects (details) and have the kids guess what the main idea could be. For example, I bring a real mixing bowl, (plastic) eggs, real oil bottle, and a package of frosting (I have a decorating bag with tip like the picture). I ask, What we could use all these items for? The kids usually are pretty quick with answers. And of course, at the end of the lesson or day, we get cupcakes!! Because, well, cupcakes. Duh.

I'll also pull some more real life objects and we make a chart of main idea and details talking about how the little details (bowl, oil, eggs, frosting) help to pull together the main idea (cake).

The set is also included as blackline! Ink saver alert!!!!!

There are three different recording pages for accountability.

And there you have it! A very simple little activity to set up and help support your main idea and details instruction.

Please enter the rafflecopter below by just entering your name! That's all!!

Hey y'all! It's finally June!!! Summer is here and I couldn't be more excited to be linking up this first summer Wednesday with the fabulous Jennifer over at A Dab of Glue Will Do for Winner Wednesday!

Something that my kiddos loved this year was Interactive Notebooks. We had at least one activity everyday and kept our notebooks up all year.

SO.... to win this 47 page Reading Skills Interactive Notebook, all you have to do is enter your name in the Rafflecopter below!
Interactive Notebooks are a great way to practice skills and reinforce lessons taught. The students would pull out their notebooks during the day and flip through them.

Though I originally designed these notebooks using the Journeys curriculum for first grade, these activities can be used for any primary grade level and any reading skill being taught. Here are some examples:

Making Inferences:

 Sequencing:

Drawing Conclusions:
